Pelayo Rey

Pelayo Rey is a sound designer specialized in interdisciplinary and technological approaches to sound. The Madrid-based composer and multi-instrumentalist's work spans audiovisual productions, interactive installations, and algorithmic music. With compositions featured at over 60 international film festivals, including premieres in London, Los Angeles, and Madrid’s La Cineteca and Museo Reina Sofía, his projects have appeared on platforms like RTVE, Filmin, Caixaforum+ and Mubi. Recognized with official candidacies for the Goya Awards in 2024 and 2025, his work reflects a deep integration of music, technology, and spatial design. He has composed for stage productions premiered in some of Madrid’s leading theaters, and has also lectured at top universities and offered non-profit workshops in under-resourced schools, sharing insights on music, sound, and the intersection of technology and art. Beyond his focus on sound, Pelayo is deeply involved in researching innovative techniques for working with textile materials and holds a keen interest in visual arts, architecture, and design. His interdisciplinary approach integrates technical proficiency with a visionary artistic perspective, blending music, sound, engineering, fashion, design, and architecture to deliver comprehensive and meaningful experiences.
